Katy
Henderson represents the Trinity Christian
School Lions as female athlete of the year for her
excellence in softball, volleyball, and basketball.
She was All district Volleyball in 2004, All
District Basketball in 06 and 07, All District
softball 03-06, All West Tenn softball in 05 & 06,
and All State softball in 07. |
Trinity
male athlete of the year is Joel Essenburg.
Joel ran track for two years and played football all
four years of high school. He was 2006 offensive MVP
for Trinity while being selected to the
Sportswriter's All state Team, All West Tennessee,
Team and All Region Teams. He was also an All
American Honorable Mention and was the Trintiy
nominee for the Wendy an Heisman Award. |
The
JCS female athlete is Lindsey DeLoach.
Lindsey competed in tennis and competitive
cheerleading. While at JCS, her cheerleading squads
consistently finished among the top teams in the
National High School Cheerleading Championships. She
also was a Wendy's Heisman nominee. Lindsey
maintained a 99.66 average in high school and is a
National Honor Society member. |
Rashad
Rayner is the male athlete of the year at JCS,
participating in football, basketball
and track. His many accolades include; All District
and All Region in Basketball and All State in
football. He was captain of the 2006 Eagles football
team and was selected MVP of the 2006 Class 1A state
championship game. The Jackson Sun selected him as
All West Tennessee Special teams Player of the Year.

North
Side High School honors Karissa Farasha Ware
as their female athlete of the year for her
accomplishments in soccer and track. Karissa ran a
4.98 40 yard dash and averaged over 10 saves a game
in track. |
The
male athlete of the year for North Side is Bret
Boylan. Bret was a four year
participant in cross country, basketball, soccer,
and track. Bret was all district in
soccer 4 years, all region 2 years. He also was MVP
on the Indian cross country
team for 4 years. Bret excelled on the basketball
court, leading the Indians in
steals, assists, and total points scored his senior
year. |
The
Bruins select Megan Latimer as the female
Athlete of the Year for her exploits in softball and
basketball. In softball, she earned All-District,
All-Region, and All-West Tennessee honors. As a
pitcher, she recorded 40 career wins, while hitting
over .415 the past two year. She has signed to play
softball at UT Martin. |
George
Smith is the male athlete of the year from USJ.
George found his fame on the football field. In his
junior and senior year, George recorded over 290
tackles while playing linebacker for the Bruins. He
was selected as All Region and All State in 2006. He
was also selected as a team captain for the Bruins. |
Liberty
Tech Cruisaders selects Rebekah Wells as the
female athlete of the year for her success in
volleyball and softball. While at Liberty, Bekah
earned All District honors in 2004 and 2006 for
volleyball. She was also Liberty team MVP in 2004
and Player of the Year in 2006. In softball she was
selected All District in 2004, 05 and 06. |
Representing
the male athletes from Liberty is Antwan Long.
While also participating
in football, Antwan is best know for his
contributions to the 2006 State
Championship Basketball team. His honors include All
District, All Region, and
Pre-season all state awards. In his career he had 11
interceptions on the football
field and scored over 1000 points on the basketball
court. |
Representing
the Lady Cougars is Brittany Weathers. While
at JCM Britanny participated
in volleyball and track, but was best known for her
skills on the hardwood.
She was recognized as All-District, received two
Best Defense Awards and
lead her team in rebounds her senior year. Brittany
also maintains a 3.20 GPA |
Blake
Butler is the male athlete of the year for JCM.
Blake participated in football and track, earning
All West Tennessee track honors from The Jackson
Sun. Blake was chosen as the captain of the Cougar
track team in 05 and 06. He is also the Wendy's
Heisman Award nominee from JCM in 2007. |
The
female athlete of the year from Madison Academic
Academy is Charity Patterson.
Charity is nominated for her skill on the basketball
court. Charity was
awarded the Wendy's Heisman All American Award, and
has received All District, All Region, and All State
Honorable Mention awards. In her career she averaged
15 points and 6 assists per game. In her four year
career, she made 312 three point shots and scored
1383 total points.

male athlete from Madison is Russell Stanford.
Russell is a senior and was a
four year starter for the Mustangs. While being a
key element to the success of the baseball team,
Russell major accomplishments included maintaining a
3.57 GPA and achieving a 29 on the ACT exam. |
Kayla
Merriweather represents South Side High School
at their female athlete of
the year. Kayla played basketball in grades 9 & 10,
and excelled in volleyball all four years. During
her career, she has received numerous All District,
All Region, and All State awards. She was also the
MVP of several tournaments, as well as the Lady
Hawks Volleyball Team. Kayla was the Wendy's Heisman
Award nominee from the South Side Hawks. |

The
male representative from SSHS is senior Jontamion
Forrest. Jontamion participated
in track three years, basketball and football for
four years. His major accomplishments
include Sports Writers All State 2006, TFCA All
State 2006, Region MVP 2006,West Tennessee Player of
the Year 2006. His senior year Jontamion had 1886
yards rushing and 28 touchdown for the Region 6 AAA
Champions. |
