Student Athletes of the Year :
Jayson
Williams is a male athlete from Lane College
playing basketball and cross-country he was the MVP
in both sports he finished the regular cross-country
season undefeated and was named to the All SIAC
cross-country team. In basketball Jason was selected
preseason first team all conference in 2002-2003, he
led the conference in rebounding and double-doubles
with an average of 12.1 rebounds and 24
double-doubles in 27 games; he also averaged fifteen
points per game. During the 2003-2004 year, Jason
was again All-SIAC and 1st team all tournament with
12.8 rebounds and 14.9 points per game and 26
double-doubles out of 27 games. |

Taccara Moore is that a female athlete from Lane
College playing volleyball and basketball and
volleyball. In volleyball, she was up a pre-season
Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC)
all conference pick and was the SIAC leader in
kills, averaging six per game. During the year,
TAccara led the volleyball team in kills and blocks.
In basketball, she led the Lady Dragons in blocked
shots and was second on the team in rebounding and
scoring with 7.9 rebounds and 10.9 points per game.
She was named to the SIAC All Academic team with a
3.94 GPA and was the MVP in both volleyball and
basketball. |

Michael Williams has the male athlete from Jackson
State Community college playing baseball. In 2003
Michael hit .294, five home runs, and 23 RBIs. As a
pitcher, he had 41 strikeouts and was 5-3 in 32.1
innings pitched. For the current 2004 season,
Michael is hitting .384 with 21 RBIs. He is 1-1 on
the mound and averages more than a strikeout per
inning. He will continue his playing career with
Arkansas State. |

Lyndsay McKinney is the female athlete from Jackson
State Community College, playing basketball. In
2000-2003, she averaged eighteen points, seven
rebounds, eight assists per game. In 2003-2004,
Lyndsey was the captain of the the Lady Generals and
averaged nineteen points, nine rebounds, and five
assists per game. |

Leah Gronberg is the female athlete from Union
University. She's a senior pitcher for the Union
University softball team, and has been a four year
starter for Union. She has been named NAIA
All-American in each of the three seasons going into
her senior year. Leah's career pitching record to
this point at Union is 86-14 with a career ERA under
one. She was named both the TranSouth Conference and
NAIA region XI pitcher of the year last season as a
junior. During Leah's first three seasons at Union,
the Lady Bulldogs won all three TranSouth regular
season championships, three conference tournament
championships, three NAIA regional XI championships
and have made three trips to the NAIA Softball World
Series. Lee's majoring in psychology with a GPA of
3.9. |

Joel Hysmith is the male athlete from Union
University. Joel is a senior outfielder for the
Union University baseball team. He has been a four
year starter for Union. While at Union, Joel was
named TranSouth All-Conference as a freshman. He has
proven to be one of the Union's best outfielders and
has always been among the teams leaders in hits,
runs and stolen bases. During his career, Union won
the 2002 TranSouth conference Regular Season
Championship, the 2002 TranSouth Tournament
Championship, and has played in two NAIA region XI
tournaments. In the classroom, all is majoring in
Business Management and has a GPA of 3.5. |

Jonathan Finch is the male athlete from Lambuth,
playing football. He played nine games with a broken
bone in his throwing arm and led the 2003 Eagles to
a 9-3 record, a number ten national ranking, a
Midsouth conference championship and a national
playoff. Jonathan completed 161 passes of 304
attempts for 53% completion average and 21
touchdowns. He finished the season ranked number
twenty in the national passing yards. As all the
quarterbacks in the national top twenty, Jonathan
was number three with the fewest interceptions. |

Ashley Mueller Is the female athlete from Lambuth
University, playing softball. In 2003, She earned
and all Midsouth conference honorable mention and
was named the academic all Midsouth conference. She
started all 46 games last season. Last spring, she
had a 0.252 batting average and this fall she is
batting 0.286. In 2004, she was Academic All
Midsouth Conference. She has allowed only nine pass
balls in the 42 games and has a 100% stolen base
average. |
